Serengeti Safari: lions and giraffe and hippos, oh my!
Carolyn Armstrong takes her love of fact-finding research and traveling the world to write stories that children can both learn from and relate to. Her debut middle grade novel, BECAUSE OF KHALID, was inspired while on safari in Tanzania, Africa. It’s about an African American boy from Chicago and his friendship with a Maasai warrior at the height of the elephant poaching crisis.
Carolyn’s Talkabook visits will transport her guests to that same wide-open grasslands of the Serengeti National Park whether it be on a virtual safari or a closer study on elephants. A retired 4th grade teacher, Carolyn strives to cultivate a love of nature, animals, conservation, exploring new cultures, reading and writing in her audience.
