I'm a mom, magazine contributor and full-time children's author for kids from 6-9. With almost eight books in my portfolio, I have lots of fun with four-legged friends in The Adventures of the Poodle Posse and Once upon a Poodle, and with a stubborn city girl in The Upside-Down Gardener. With a few Mom’s Choice Awards for excellence in Juvenile Fiction, a top pick on Amazon Children’s Bookshelf, great reviews from The Children’s Book Review and Midwest Book Review, and an endorsement from The Dove Foundation, I’m pretty immersed in children’s literature. And as much as I love writing kids tales, I love spending time in classrooms talking to them about the entire process.

My stories are a true mix of my reality and my fantasy, weaving segments of my life and personality into some magical tales. But it wasn't always this way. I like to tell people my path was a crooked one, but one that had to be taken to be where I am today. My background lies in the corporate world and the Publishing Industry. But my creative side kept tugging at me. So when the magazine articles were complete, I turned my attention to my mini-poodles. They were doing the most mischievous things and I had never before realized it. Dastardly? Absolutely. And funny. And worthy of capturing in the written word.
The Adventures of the Poodle Posse was born. B/W illustrations compliment mysteries, adventures and holiday tales, which contain related activities in the books for complete units. The Upside-Down Gardener is based on a gardening experiment gone awry, when I began to call myself an upside-down gardener. It gave me inspiration to introduce tough little Dory Oslo--a baseball player with a strong personality. A little magic intersects with her imagination in this tale that teaches about growth and change. It has received wide praise from The Children's Book Review, Mom's Choice Awards, Midwest Book Review, master gardeners and young readers.
Presently, A Grand Slam Birthday is in production, where Dory Oslo takes the center stage again---or should I say center field? A boring party turns into one bundle of baseball, with an unlikely lesson about giving things a try.
I spend a great deal of time writing, but I have found that another love is spending time with young readers, inspiring them to keep telling tales of their own.
