Some cool facts about Sofiya:
- She grew up on a farm in Florida where her mom rescued abandoned goats.
- She joined the United States Air Force at 18 and traveled around the world as a translator and medical provider.
- She once got trapped inside an abandoned mine in California, and barely escaped with her life! (Okay, she was fine, but what if there had been a cave goblin??)
From talking to her camera for YouTube videos, to giving mission briefings to military leadership, to chatting with teen writers at her local libraries, Sofiya has always been comfortable speaking to small or large groups of people on basically any topic she's handed. Her passion truly lies in using her extensive experiences and education to encourage kids to achieve great things (and also to eat their vegetables)!
Sofiya is the honor-winning author of middle grade historical fantasies ANYA AND THE DRAGON and ANYA AND THE NIGHTINGALE. She loves gardening, cooking, baking, and hollering about the importance of mental health. She lives in an ancient dried up inland sea with her spouse, kids, and a mutt puppy named Sansa Bark.
