Make it Snappy! A Nonfiction Writing Workshop

Many kids think great writers are born knowing how to write, but that's definitely not true. Everyone can learn a few strategies to improve their writing, whether it's fiction, nonfiction, personal narrative or biography. Sarah will share some tips and tricks for kid writers who want to get to the next level.

What is a writer's voice? Everyone can develop their own voice, with a little practice and encouragement. Sarah briefly introduces her own middle grade nonfiction titles and then models ways kids can develop their unique writer’s voice. She'll equip kid writers with new tools for their writing toolbox, using mentor texts and by demonstrating her own revision strategies. Kids then apply what they’ve learned to revise their own writing.

Participants should have a notebook and writing utensil.
Family members are welcome to participate together.
Ideal format would be 2 - 3 sessions, but can be done in 1.
