CREATE YOUR OWN ALPHABET STORY

During this session, I will read my picture book FROM A TO Z WITH ENERGY!, and then I will invite children to create their own alphabet stories based on a topic of their choice. Younger children will need blank paper and crayons or markers, and older children will also need a pen or pencil.

I will read my picture book, FROM A TO Z WITH ENERGY!, and I will talk about how I got my ideas for the book. Then we will brainstorm topics that interest the child (for example, animals, transportation, favorite foods). Once we have decided on a topic, the child will be invited to think of an entry for each letter that corresponds to the chosen topic. Young children can practice writing the letters and drawing a picture for each one. Older children can also write their own words for the story. By the end of the session, the child will either have a finished alphabet story, or one in progress that can be completed as an after-session activity.
