Let's Make Stories So Much Neater! Write a Book in Rhyme and Meter!
A session about not just rhyming, but structuring the words so that they flow in rhythm!
45 Minute Program
Did you know that the title of this session is in Iambic Tetrameter? No? Well, let's learn about that! Adam loves children's books that rhyme, but he hates books that don't have a flowing meter to the words. In this session, Adam will pull stanzas from rhyming books that he loves (both his own works and stories by others) and discuss the rhyme scheme and meters that the authors use. He will spend some time on technical things, like meters and poetic feet and stanzas, but he can vary the complexity of the discussion to fit the age group of the participants. In any case, Adam will work with the participants to come up with at least one rhyming couplet on the spot to describe something in thier life, and then discuss what words are great for rhyming couplets and which words don't work very well.
