The Idea Generator

Where do we get ideas from? And how do we generate new ideas? In this workshop I'll walk kids through their interests and pasts and mine their memories for crafting amazing stories that are uniquely them. Workshop exercises include (as time permits) idea and character brainstorming for stories that kid will be clamoring to write. Please plan on having attendees bring writing materials to be used during the workshop.

Ideas are everywhere! There are ideas in the movies we watch, the books we read, and yes, definitely in the video games we play. Kids are often stumped when it comes to what to write about, but I've found that my looking to my past and to what I enjoy doing, I can write about topics that I love.
Your students will adore this writing workshop!

Group size: 25 students of similar age group. I will customize to the age you are booking for.

About the Author

P. J. (Tricia) Hoover wanted to be a Jedi, but when that didn't work out, she became an electrical engineer instead. After a fifteen year bout designing computer chips for a living, P. J. started creating worlds of her own. She's the award-winning author of The Hidden Code, a Da Vinci Code-style young adult adventure with a kick-butt heroine, and Tut: The Story of My Immortal Life, featuring a fourteen-year-old King Tut who's stuck in middle school. When not writing, P. J. spends time practicing kung fu, fixing things around the house, and solving Rubik's cubes. For more information about P. J. (Tricia) Hoover, please visit her website
