The Power of Words!
“The pen is mightier than the sword.” This was written by English author Edward Bulwer-Lytton and implies that reason and clear writing are more effective tools for change than violence. In this session, Adam will read his book Jam-Bo, Litta-Girl, and the Bullies (about 15 minutes) and discuss how being smart and liking books is so much better than being a bully. In the book, Jam-Bo and Litta-Girl defeat their bullies by using successively longer and longer words. Adam will go through he process he used to find all of the words for the book and discuss their meanings, as well as encourage the participants to read all they can and use the knowledge that they gain to survive schooling with bullies. He'll use stories from his own childhood to relay how he defeated bullies without ever resorting to violence.
If you're already familiar with Jam-Bo, Litta-Girl, and the Bullies, we can skip the reading and get right to talking about the power of words!
