True or False: Animal Fact Fun-xplosion!
Q) True or False: The world's fastest flyer is NOT the peregrine falcon. A) Your animal-lovers will tell you once they sort of the clues to find out the answer to this...while connecting animal anatomy to their own. Extra fun in this an expanded 45-minute visit.
The nonfiction picture books Book of Bones (a Teachers’ Choice title) and Book of Flight (an Indiana Author Award Nominee), by Sam Brewster and I, serve as our jumping off points and together we will examine and share about what makes each animal so unique. Participants will end by considering their own unique qualities and create text and art that celebrates them!
During our visit, participants will use their bodies, brains, and drawing materials. Warning: it may get loud!
This visit is perfect for students in grades 2-4 but I love visiting with students in grades K - 8.
VIRTUAL VISIT FEEDBACK from October 2020:
“What a fantastic time SFIS had with Gabrielle Balkan! She was awesome! She could definitely help instruct anyone on how to connect with young people. She had our students so engaged with movement, discussion, drawing, learning, and having a really fun time! Her visit certainly inspired our students to want to be authors and illustrators!” - Carolyn, Librarian, Saint Francis International School
