I will read my 4th book in The American HerStory Series, "Remembering Green" and we will talk about our Indigenous People and the discrimination and hardships they've endured since "being discovered" by early European settlers.

"Remembering Green" deals with the forced assimilation of Native American children into the white culture and how these children struggled to retain their culture and customs. I will teach you some actual Ojibwe words from the story and how to pronounce them.

About the Author

Lisa Gammon Olson lives in Coon Valley, Wisconsin. She is the author of Tales From American HerStory Series with Eifrig Publishing. (Dust Flowers, Sewing The Magic In, The Cheese Song & Remembering Green). She is also the author of the Award-Winning Picture Book "And The Trees Began To Move" and a coming-of-age chapter book for Tweens- "Fig Newton Summer".
